Ingredients

  1. To Boil Mix Dal fry:
  2. 1 Cupmix lentils dals (yellow moong dal, toor dal, chana dal, masoor dal (red lentil)
  3. 1 tspturmeric powder
  4. 2-3 cupsWater
  5. to tasteSalt
  6. for Tadka:
  7. 1 tbspoil or ghee
  8. 1 tbspMustard seeds
  9. 1 tspCumin seeds (jeera)
  10. 1 tspCloves (laung)
  11. 2 piecesCinnamon stick (dalchini)
  12. 1/2Dry red chilli
  13. 1Bay leaves (tej patta)
  14. 4Curry leaves (kadi patta)
  15. 1Green chilli finely chopped
  16. 1 cupOnion tomato finely chopped
  17. 1 tspTurmeric,Red chilli powder
  18. 1 tbspCoriander powder
  19. 1 tbspGaram masala
  20. 1 tspGinger1/2 inch piece,
  21. 2Grated Garlic cloves,
  22. as requiredgrated Coriander (Cilantro)
  23. 1/4 tspLemon juice as per the taste (optional)
  24. 1 PinchAsafoetida (hing)
  25. to tasteSalt

Cooking Instructions

    To Boil Dal:
    Mix all dals in equal quantity and rinse thoroughly with water. Soak in 2 1/2 cup of water. In a pressure cooker put the soaked dal and add some turmeric powder tomato, onion salt and green chilli cook for about 10 mins. Keep the boiled dal aside.

    To Make Tadka:
    In a pan heat oil or ghee. Once the oil is hot, add mustard seeds and cumin seeds and let it temper.

    Then add pinch of asafoetida, dry red chilli, cinnamon stick, cloves, bay leaf, curry leaves and cook for a min.

    Add green onion and cook for about 3 mins and add tomatoes, turmeric powder, red chilli powder, coriander powder, garam masala, grated ginger, grated garlic, chopped green chillies and salt to taste.

    Cook till all the flavours of spices are blended in onion and tomato.

    Add the boiled dals in it and mix well and add some water to it.
