This is a variation of a German recipe. The original doesn't have milk. It's also delicious with soy milk.

You can easily make the grilled chestnuts in an oven.
Even if you use frozen chestnuts, they're ready in 15 minutes. Recipe by Brandy

Ingredients

3 servings
  1. 500 gramsGrilled chestnuts
  2. 100 mlWhite wine (not sweet)
  3. 200 mlor so Milk
  4. 2 smallonions Onion
  5. 1Bay leaf
  6. 125 mlDouble cream
  7. 1 dashParsley
  8. 1 dashChristmas Spice Mix

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

Wash the chestnuts and make a shallow cut in the flat parts of the chestnuts. Bake in an oven at 200°F for about 15~20 minutes until browned. Peel and cut the chestnuts. Mince or run through an electric mixer.

  2. 2

Stir-fry the onions in butter or oil. Add the chestnuts, white wine, and bay leaves. Simmer for 15 minutes over medium heat. Even with frozen chestnuts, 15 minutes is okay.

  3. 3

Once the chestnuts have boiled through (when a skewer can easily pass through), take out the bay leaves.

  4. 4

Run through an electric mixer, then let cool outside of the mixer. Add the milk and heavy cream, warm it up, and season with salt and pepper.

  5. 5

You can top with boiled chestnuts and chopped parsley. Add spices for guests.

  6. 6

It's also delicious even without the wine. It's great with a little warmed milk.
