Ingredients

2 to 3 servings
  1. 1 cupbombay rava / semolina / sooji
  2. 2 tbspoil
  3. 1 tspmustard seeds
  4. 1/2 tspchana dal (optional)
  5. 1/2 tspurad dal
  6. Few curry leaves
  7. 1/2onion finely chopped
  8. 1/4 cupCarrot chopped
  9. 1/4 cupbeans
  10. 2green chillies
  11. 1 inchginger finely chopped
  12. 3 cupswater
  13. to tastesalt
  14. 2 tbspgrated coconut

Cooking Instructions

    Dry roast rava on low flame for 2-3 minutes. keep aside to cool completely.

    In a large kadai/cheenacchatti, heat oil and add mustard, urad dal and few curry leaves. Saute till the mustard seeds splutter.

    Add onion, carrot,beans, green chilli, ginger and saute well.

    Pour water and get to vigorous boil. Add salt and mix well.

  5. 5

    Keeping the flame on low, add roasted rava slowly, stirring continuously with another hand.

    Mix continuously till the rava absorbs water.

  7. 7

    Cover and simmer on low flame till upma is cooked well.

  8. 8

    Add grated coconut to the upma and switch off the flame.
