Heat the oil and stir-fry the onion, garlic and mince until the onion is translucent and the meat lightly browned. Stir in the lentils.

Add the beef stock, tomato pureé, Worcestershire sauce, herbs, nutmeg and boiling water and simmer for 10 minutes. Stir from time to time and add more boiling water if necessary to form enough sauce. Season with black pepper.

Serve the savoury mince on toast, pasta, brown rice, pap or mashed potatoes, or in a pita bread, pancake or tortilla.
