Ogbono soup with Okra

Before you cook your Ogbono soup with okra:
1 grind the ogbono with dry mill
2 cut the okra fingers into tiny pieces. to achieve this, you need to make a few vertical cuts followed by horizontal cuts on the okra fingers.
3 cut the pumpkin leaf
4 cook the beef and stock fish with the stock cubes and onion
5 grind crayfish and pepper
6 boil some water and step aside

Ingredients

  1. 1kilo meat
  2. 2hand full of Ogbono seeds\
  3. 2cooking spoon of red palm oil
  4. 1 bunchpumpkin leaf
  5. 250 gokra fingers
  6. 1 handfulcrayfish
  7. 1medium onion
  8. 3stock cubes (maggi)
  9. 2medium size of fresh pepper
  10. to tastesalt
  11. 250worth of stock fish
  12. 200worth of dry fish

Cooking Instructions

    You pour the palm oil into a clean dry pot. set on the stove and melt the oil at low, do not allow it to hit up

  2. 2

    Once melted turn off the heat and add the ground ogbono

  3. 3

    Use your cooking stick to dissolve the ogbono in the oil

  4. 4

    When all the ogbono powder is completed mixed with the oil, add the meat stock. set the heat of your cooker to low and start stirring. you will notice the ogbono start to thicken and draw.

    Keep stirring till the ogbono has completely absorbed the meat stock.

    Add a small quantity of the hot water and stir till the ogbono has absorbed all the water. repeat this process till you get a consistency that you desire

    Making sure that your heat is set to low, cover the pot and start cooking. once it starts to simmer, stir every 2 to 3 minutes for 20 minutes to avoid the ogbono sticking to the base of the pot

    After 20 minutes the ogbono should be well cooked and you would begin to perceive its nice aroma

    Add the meat, pepper, ground crayfish and salt to taste. the ogbono may have become thicker from the cooking. if so, add a little bit more water and stir very well. then cover and cook till the content of the pot is well heated up.

    Add the okra and stir very well cover and leave to heat up well

    Add the vegetable and allow to simmer for 5 minutes. it is ready to be served with either eba, semo, pounded yam etc.
