ᴡɪꜱʜɪɴɢ ʏᴏᴜ ɢᴜʏꜱ ᴀ ᴠᴇʀʏ ʜᴀᴘᴘʏ ʟᴏʜʀɪ ❤️

Lohri is traditional north indian festival which basically marks the end of winter season. Though, I still feel too cold here and as per me the weather gets warmer near holi only.
The best part of lohri celebration is the beautiful bonfire along with folk dances that people do with lots of enthusiasm. Moreover, sugarcane products like gud, gajak and nuts are central to lohri celebration. We usually eat sarso da saag with makke ki roti on this day. People also make various sesame dishes to enjoy the festival.

So I decided to make sesame ladoo for this occasion. Me and Mom made 2 variations of ladoo. One variant is made of sugar, khoya and sesame as main ingredients, which I have been eating since childhood and they taste awesome. Second variant is healthier version of ladoo with skipping khoya and using jaggery instead of sugar.
I will be sharing the recipe of second variant. If anyone want recipe for the first one, DM me.

Till then enjoy the lovely festival, sending you all my best wishes.

Stay healthy, stay happy!

Steps

  1. 1

Dry roast sesame seeds until brown in colour.

  2. 2

Dry roast peanuts till it's skin peel off.

  3. 3

Slightly roast almonds and cashews too.

  4. 4

Now pulse the nuts to make coarse powder. Do not make fine powder.

  5. 5

Heat ghee in pan, then add jaggery to it.

  6. 6

Start stirring and don't let it stick to the pan.

  7. 7

Once jaggery melts, turn the flame to low, add nuts powder and cardamom powder, mix well.

  8. 8

Now add sesame seeds and give a good mix. Turn of the flame. Keep aside for 5 mins.

  9. 9

Now you have to be super quick as jaggery gets hardened once it's removed from the heat.

  10. 10

Take the mixture and roll into balls to make ladoo.

  11. 11

Garnish with pista by slightly pressing it into ladoo while making balls.
