Moong and Masoor Daal: (Red & Yellow lentil)

Rinse the lentils well until the water is no longer cloudy. It should take 4-5 washes and then soak the lentils in room temperature water for 30 minutes while you prep the other ingredients.

🌻Stove Top Method:
Add rinsed masoor and moong daal to a stockpot and add 4 cups of water.
Add salt,chilli powder, turmeric powder and
Bring to a boil.
Bring heat to low and cover with tight fitting lid. Let daal cook for 30-40 minutes or till cook completely Check for doneness, and salt. If it needs to cook more, add ½ cup hot water, and let it simmer until it's soft. - 3
🌻Instant Pot Method:
Wash the masoor and moong daal until the water runs clear. Add masoor and moong daal,salt, turmeric, and red chilli powder and 3 cups water to the Instant Pot. Turn Instant Pot on.
Close the lid and move the steam valve to sealing. On manual setting, set the cooking time to 10 minutes at high pressure. - 4
Once the timer is up, move the steam valve to venting position to immediately release steam. After the pressure has released, carefully remove the lid, making sure you are not touching the metallic part. Turn Instant Pot off.

🌻Tadka (Tempering):
Once the daal is ready begin to get the tadka ready. Heat ghee or oil in another small frying pan when ghee/oil is hot then add chopped garlic when garlic turn golden brown then add cumin seeds and curry leaves ones the seeds have changed their colour slightly.

Add the tempering to the lentil pot and cover immediately. Then sprinkle some gram masala powder add lemon juice stir well then garnish with chopped green chilli and fresh coriander Serve with rice,roti,naan,paratha,crusty bread or Pitta bread.
