  • For the dumplings
  • 10.5 ozdumplings (about 300 g; I used pork and cheese dumplings)
  • 1 1/4 cupswater (about 300 ml, or more as needed for boiling the dumplings)
  • For the sauce (if you don't have Korean chili paste)
  • 2 teaspoonsfried shallots in oil (about 2 shallots)
  • 3 tablespoonsketchup
  • 3 tablespoonschili sauce
  • 3 tablespoonsfish sauce
  • 2 tablespoonssugar
  • 1 tablespoonseasoning powder
  • 1 tablespoonMSG (optional)
  • 1 1/4 cupswater (about 300 ml)
  • 2 tablespoonscornstarch (add when the sauce is hot)
  • For the sauce (if you have Korean chili paste)
  • 1 1/2 tablespoonsKorean chili flakes
  • 1/2 tablespoonsoy sauce
  • 3 tablespoonsKorean chili paste (gochujang)
  • 3 tablespoonsketchup
  • 2 1/2 tablespoonssugar
  • 2 tablespoonscornstarch (add when the sauce is hot)
  • 1 1/4 cupswater (about 300 ml)

    Pour 1 1/4 cups water (about 300 ml) into a pot and bring to a boil. Add 10.5 oz (300 g) dumplings and cook for 6-8 minutes, or until the dumplings float to the top and are cooked through.

    Next, prepare the sauce according to the recipe in the ingredients section.

    Pour 1 1/4 cups water (about 300 ml) into a pot, add the sauce, and stir until the sauce is heated through. Then, add 2 tablespoons cornstarch to thicken. When the sauce starts to thicken slightly, add the dumplings. You can also add cheese, noodles, or fish cakes for extra flavor!

    For the version without Korean chili paste, the sauce will be orange-yellow and mildly sweet (this sauce is also great with pasta!). For the version with Korean chili paste, the sauce will be reddish-brown and have a bold sweet and spicy flavor (this sauce is also delicious with tteokbokki or noodles). Here is my finished dish:
