Ingredients

  1. For idlis
  2. 11 /2 cup rice flour
  3. 1/2 cupsooji/semolina
  4. 1 cupcurd
  5. 1 Tspsalt
  6. 1/2 cupwater + as required
  7. 1/2 Tspeno fruit salt
  8. 3/4 cupchopped veggies and curry leaves
  9. 1 Tspground black pepper
  10. 1/2 Tspblack sesame seeds
  11. Oil to grease
  12. For sambar
  13. 2 cupsleftover cooked arhar(toor) dal
  14. 1 cupchopped veggies
  15. 1onion sliced
  16. 1 Tbspsambar masala powder
  17. 1 Tbspcooking oil
  18. 1/2 Tspmustard seeds
  19. 1spring curry leaves
  20. 1 Tspcrushed garlic cloves
  21. 1 pinchAsafoetida
  22. 2green chillies

Cooking Instructions

    FOR IDLIS

    Arrange the ingredients.
    Take rice flour, Semolina, curd and 1/2 cup water in a bowl. Mix well. Add more water as required and best for 2 minutes to avoid lumps. Cover and rest for 10 minutes.

    Add salt and eno fruit salt. Mix well the veggies

    Grease the idli plates with oil. Pour the idli batter with veggies. Sprinkle black sesame seeds

    Cover and steam for 10 minutes. Rest the idli pot to cool down.

    For sambar

    Add chopped veggies to leftover daal and bring to boil. Mix sliced onions and green chillies.

    Add sambar powder and keep cooking. In a small pan heat oil, splutter mustard seeds, fry garlic, curry leaves, Asafoetida and a dry red chilli

    Add amchur powder to the sambar and mix nicely. Finally, add the garlic, curry leaves tempering to the sambar and mix well. Enjoy the delicious Rice Idlis and Vegetables Sambar with family and friends.
