Ingredients

  1. FOR SAMBAR POWDER:
  2. 1/2 tspmethi / fenugreek ¼ cup coriander seeds 1 tbsp jeera
  3. 1 tbspurad dal
  4. 1 tbspchana dal
  5. 5red chilli dried
  6. leavesFew curry
  7. Hing
  8. for sambhar
  9. Oil
  10. Mustard seeds
  11. Hing
  12. leavesCurry
  13. Onion 2 chopped
  14. Tomates 2 chopped
  15. Drumsticks 5-6 small pieces
  16. Kadhu optional
  17. Potato chopped
  18. Carrot chopped
  19. Green chili slitted
  20. Turmeric powder
  21. Jaggery
  22. Salt
  23. Tamarind paste
  24. Toordal boiled
  25. Coriander leaves finely chopped

Cooking Instructions

    Firstly, in a large kadai heat, 2 tsp oil and splutter tempering.

    Add  onion 2 chilli and saute for a minute till it changes colour.

    further, add 2 tomato and continue to cook.

    Now add mixed vegetables and saute for 2 minutes.

    Further, add ¼ tsp turmeric, ½ tsp jaggery, 1 tsp salt and 1 cup water.

    Mix well, cover and boil for 10 minutes.

    now add ¾ cup tamarind extract and mix well.

    Cover and boil for 10 minutes.

    Additionally, add 1 cup toor dal, water and mix well.

    Add in 4 tsp of prepared sambar powder.

    Boil for a minute, until the flavours are well absorbed.

    Add in 2 tbsp coriander leaves and mix well.

  11. 11

    Finally, enjoy idli sambar with hot steamed idli.
