This kuzhambu / gravy is a native dish of tamilnadu. This one is fried plantain flower balls cooked with tamarind gravy and tadka. Tasty with hot rice.

This kuzhambu / gravy is a native dish of tamilnadu. This one is fried plantain flower balls cooked with tamarind gravy and tadka. Tasty with hot rice.
Steps

Soak chana dal for 3 hours

Drain the water and grind the chana dal with red chilli, fennel seeds and salt
- 3
Grind into coarse paste

Add cooked banana flower, finely chopped curry leaves, finely chopped onion, salt to the chana dal paste and mix well
- 5
Make big size balls with the plantain flower mixture

Place the balls in idli plate snd steam cook for seven to ten minutes and keep it aside

Grind 1/4 cup grated coconut with baby onion, cumin and fennel seeds into fine paste

Heat oil in a pan and add mustard, urad dal, fenugreek seeds. Saute for few seconds and add onion, tomato and curry leaves. Saute well

Add tamarind juice, red chilli powder, coriander powder, salt and turmeric powder. Add 3 cup water to it and boil fully

Add the steamed banana flower balls and reduce the flame into medium. Cover and cook for seven to ten minutes

In between open and add the coconut paste

Cooked until the oil is oozing out from the gravy.

Ready to serve with hot rice, roti and chapati
