  1. For Misal Masala
  2. 1⁄4 cup Dry Coconut Roughly Chopped
  3. 7-8Cloves
  4. 7-8Black Pepper
  5. 1⁄2 tsp Fenugreek Seed
  6. 1Mace
  7. 2 stickCinnamon
  8. 1Star Anise
  9. 7-8Dry Kashmiri Red Chilli
  10. 1 tspFennel Seed
  11. 1 tspCumin
  12. 2 tbspCoriander Seed
  13. 1 tbspWhite Sesame Seed
  14. For Misal Boiling
  15. 1⁄2 cup Turkish Gram (Mooth Beans) (Soaked for 4-5 hours)
  16. 1⁄4 cup Moong Beans (Soaked for 4-5 hours)
  17. 1⁄4 cup Pea Beans (Soaked for 4-5 hours)
  18. 1 tspSalt
  19. 1⁄2 tsp Turmeric Powder
  20. 2 cupWater
  21. For Misal
  22. 3 tbspOil
  23. 1⁄2 tsp Mustard Seed
  24. 1⁄2 tsp Cumin
  25. 1⁄4 tsp Asafoetida
  26. 1⁄2 inch Ginger (Grated)
  27. 1 tspTurmeric Powder
  28. 1 cupTomato (FInely Chopped)
  29. 2 tspKashmiri Red Chilli Powder
  30. 1 tspCoriander Powder
  31. 1⁄2 tsp Garam Masala
  32. 3 tbspMisal Masala
  33. 1 tbspor as per taste Salt
  34. 4 cupHot Water
  35. handfulFresh Coriander (Finely Chopped)
  36. Misal Serving

  38. 1 cupChopped Tomato
  39. 1/2 cupFresh Coriander (Finely Chopped)

Cooking Instructions

    For Misal Masala:
    To make misal masala, we will first roast a little dry coconut in a pan. After that add black pepper, cloves, fenugreek seeds, mace, cinnamon, star anise and roast for 2-3 minutes.

    After that, add dry red chillies, fennel seeds, cumin seeds and sesame seeds and roast again for 2-3 minutes. And keep it in a plate to cool.

    Once all the roasted spices cool down, fine crush them in a mixer.

    For Misal Boiling:
    In a cooker, add 2 cups of water to soaked mooth beans, mung beans and peas, add salt and turmeric and cook for 2 whistles.

    For the Misal:
    Now add oil to a pan, when it gets hot, add mustard seed, cumin and asafoetida. Also add turmeric, ginger and chopped tomato. Let the tomato cook a little. Then add Kashmiri red chillies, Misal Masala and salt. Mix it well. and cook for 3-4 minutes.

    After that add hot water and let it boil for 5 minutes. And lastly garnish with chopped coriander.

    Our tasty Misal is ready. Serve hot with chiwala, chopped tomato and laddi pav.
