Easy Taiwanese Popcorn Chicken
A not-so-intimidating dish if you just give it a try :)
Steps
- 1
Cut chicken into bite sized cubes. Add to a bowl with garlic, ginger, oyster sauce, garlic powder, salt, ground pepper, ground white pepper, sugar, and egg.
- 2
Mix chicken with marinade and let it sit in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes.
- 3
Take chicken out of the refrigerator and coat each piece with potato starch. The chunkier the starch the better.
- 4
Heat frying oil to around 350 degrees Celsius. Fry the chicken cubes until golden, then strain into a bowl lined with paper towels.
- 5
If you want it to be crispier, double fry the chicken for another few minutes, and add in basil to fry right before ready.
- 6
Strain chicken into paper towel lined bowl. While hot, sprinkle on pepper salt. And enjoy!
