Ingredients

10-15 minutes
2 servings
  • 1 cupWhole Moong Beans, soaked with lots of water for 3-4 hours or overnight
  • 2 cupsSpinach Leaves chopped
  • 1Onion chopped
  • 5Garlic cloves chopped
  • 1 inch Ginger chopped
  • 1Tomato chopped
  • 1Green chilli chopped
  • 1/4 teaspoonTurmeric Powder
  • 1 teaspoonRed Chilli Powder (or as per taste)
  • 1 teaspoonCoriander Powder
  • 1 tablespoonCooking Oil/ghee
  • to tasteSalt
  • 1 tspcumin seeds
  • Pinchhing (asafoetida powder)
  • 1Lemon Juice (optional)

Steps

10-15 minutes
  1. 1

    First boil moong dal in pressure cooker for 3 whistles.Flame should be high else 2 whistles.
    Heat oil/ghee in a large pan and cumin seeds and hing. Then add onions, ginger,chilli and garlic.

  2. 2

    Saute till onions are soft.
    Add the spice powders and saute for few seconds. Add tomatoes and cook till mushy.
    Add the spinach and salt and cook till spinach is half cooked.
    Add boiled moong beans and cook for 2-3 minutes more.Add water depending on the preferred consistency. Squeeze lemon juice (optional)
