Ingredients

  1. 2 cupsIdli rice
  2. 1/2 cupUrd dal
  3. 1/4 cupPoha
  4. to tasteSalt
  5. 1/2 cupArhar ki dal
  6. 1/2 tspTurmeric powder
  7. to tasteSalt
  8. 2 tspOil
  9. 1/2 tspMustard seeds
  10. 10-15Curry leaves
  11. 1 cupOnion (chopped)
  12. 1 cupTomato (chopped)
  13. 2 tbspSambhar masala
  14. 1Brinjal (chopped)
  15. 2 tbspTamarind pulp

Cooking Instructions

    For idli - Wash and soak rice poha and urd dal separately for 4-5 min

    Drain and blend in a blender together with salt and poha till smooth. Transfer the batter in a big vessel and cover and keep to ferment for 6-8 hours.

    Grease the idli molds and pour the batter in each mold. Steam the idlies for 15-20 minutes, till done.

    Add onion and fry for 2 minutes. Add tomatoes, brinjal, and sambhar masala.

    For Sambhar - Wash the dal. Add it in a pressure cooker with salt and turmeric powder. Cook till done. Add oil in a pan. When the oil is hot, add mustard seeds and curry leaves.
