I cooked my first Ogbono soup at age ten. Then we drag to cook in my house. The foodie spirit in me was definitely inborn😂
Even at that I have never really been a big fan of Ogbono soup but sometimes I crave it...
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Blend the ogbono, crayfish and pepper and set aside.
- 2
Rinse the meats thoroughly for the soup. Use warm warm to clean the dry catfish if any. Boil the meats, ponmo and stock fish with seasoning cubes and salt until tender.
- 3
When done add water to the stock if it's not enough to cook the soup. Gauge with your eyes. Place on heat to continue boiling.
Get a clean iron plate, pour the blended Ogbono inside and add 2 cookingspoon oil
- 4
Place the bowl containing the ogbono on top of the boiling meat to melt. Stir with a spoon, before adding the ogbono to the steaming meats.
Or get a clean pot, add the cooking spoons palm oil, add the ogbono to melt and add the meats and stock to boil.
If the oil is not enough add to the soup to steam well with it. - 5
Don't cover the pot, add the dry Catfish, locust bean, seasoning cubes and other available meats for the soup.
- 6
Stir and add more water if the consistency is too thick.
Taste for salt and add the leafs, drop from heat...
Serve with any swallow of your choice

Stuffed Pepper Soup Stuffed Pepper Soup
This soup is an absolute favorite with my family members. I have never been a fan of soggy stuffed peppers. This soup is perfect with cooked rice but it could also go great with lentils. You can cook this on low in a crock pot. In the insta-pot it takes 20-30 minutes. Honeybeelifting -
Palm nut soup/ ofe akwu Palm nut soup/ ofe akwu
I love food lol but my favorite soup of all, is this beautiful palm nut soup. The flavor of the palm nut is indescribable and delicious 😋! The palm tree is just amazing that you can get wine from it and it’s no low class wine either! Palm oil is a must for a lot of Igbo dishes and of course the palm nut soup 🍜 is time consuming but so worth it ! ifuchi -
Okro soup with ogbono Okro soup with ogbono
#Ashlab.Okro soup has been one of the most easiest and quickest soup to prepare.some argue that okro takes a lot of time and energy to make, but for me I used the blender method to blend my okro and ogbonno due to the fact that I don’t like the smell that comes from ogbonno,So blending it together with the okro removes the smell and also gives it a nice taste. It’s known as miyan kubewa in Hausa.I love everything about okro soup mixed with ogbonno, especially that part of draw, which makes it fun while eating. Blending your belly pepper, chilly pepper with the garlic, onions and cray fish gives the paste a nice aroma and also taste.Least I forget I used the processed okro because I couldn’t get the fresh okro here .You can cut spinach and add to your okro soup.Don’t forget to wash your hands before you start cooking and also wash all the veggies that needs to be washed.
