Cooking Instructions

Heat a frying pan, add vegetable oil, bay leaf, and garlic, and sauté until fragrant, being careful not to burn.

Add onion to step 1 and sauté for about 3 minutes until translucent. Add ground meat and cook until about 80% done, then add wine and mix lightly. Add chili powder and mix quickly.

Add bouillon, ketchup, and tomato puree to step 2, and cook for about 3 minutes without burning. Then add salt, black pepper, and soy sauce, and cook for about 1 minute.

Turn off the heat from step 3, serve rice on a plate, and top with your choice of toppings and the mixture from step 3 to finish.

I thought of this recipe to use up the gochujang stocked in my fridge.Make sure you microwave the Japanese leeks first. You don't need to cover with plastic wrap. This will help reduce the peculiar aftertaste of the leeks. If you use too much ichimi chili pepper powder, the rice balls will become super spicy. I suggest adding in 1/4 teaspoon increments.
