Ingredients

4 servings
  1. 1/2 cupurad dal / minapa pappu
  2. 2-3 tbspsrice flour
  3. as neededSalt
  4. Generous pinch of hing
  5. 1/2 tbsp.pepper crushed
  6. 1-2green chilies chopped
  7. 3/4 tspfinely chopped ginger (optional)
  8. 4-5curry leaves chopped finely
  9. Few coriander leaves chopped finely
  10. Oil as needed for frying
  11. Rasam ingrdients
  12. 1medium sized tomato finely chopped
  13. 2green chilli slit lengthwise
  14. few curry leaves
  15. 1 cuptamarind extract
  16. 1/2 tspturmeric powder / haldi
  17. 1/2 tspjaggery
  18. to tastesalt
  19. 2 cupswater
  20. 1 cuptoor dal cooked
  21. 2 tbspcoriander leaves finely chopped
  22. for rasam powder:(or use udupi rasam powder)
  23. 1 tspoil1 tsp coriander seeds / dhaniya seeds
  24. 1/2 tspjeera / cumin seeds
  25. 10methi seeds / fenugreek seeds
  26. 3dried kashmiri red chilli / lal mirch
  27. leavesfew curry
  28. 1/4 tspblack pepper / kali mirch
  29. for tempering:
  30. 1 tspoil
  31. 1tsp mustard seeds / rai
  32. 1/2 tspurad dal
  33. 2dried red chilli broken
  34. few curry leaves
  35. pinchasafoetida / hing

Steps

  1. 1

    Wash urad dal until the water runs clear.

  2. 2

    Soak it enough water for 2 hours.

  3. 3

    Drain the water and add it to a blender jar along with 2 to 3 tbsps water and salt as needed.

    Blend it to a smooth fluffy batter adding more water as needed.

  5. 5

    The batter has to be thick like the vada batter.

  6. 6

    .Add the rest of the ingredients and mix well.

  7. 7

    Beat the batter for 2 to 3 mins.

    Making mysore bonda

    Heat oil in a deep pan.

  10. 10

    When the oil is hot enough, take small portions of this batter and drop in the oil.

    Stir and fry until golden.

    Transfer them to an absorbent tissue.

    Serve mysore bonda hot with any chutney or Rasam.

    Firstly, add a tsp of oil and roast coriander seeds, jeera, methi seeds, red chilli, curry leaves and pepper.

    Blend to fine powder. keep side.

  16. 16

    In a kadai take tomatoes, green chilli and curry leaves.

    Also add tamarind extract, turmeric, jaggery and salt.

    Cover and boil the tamarind water for 15 minutes.

    Add 2 cups of water and get to boil.

    Now add cooked toor dal and mix well.

    Also add prepared rasam powder or udupi rasam powder.

    Mix well and continue to boil for 2 minutes.

    Meanwhile, prepare for tempering by heating oil.

    Add mustard, urad dal, dried red chilli, curry leaves and hing.

    Pour the tempering onto the rasam.

    Also add coriander leaves and serve tomato rasam recipe or easy tomato saaru recipe with rice or Mysore bonda...
