Red Velvet Heart Cake ❤🍰

A Valentine's Day special... made yesterday for Valentine's Day this year. #valentinesday2020
It doesn't need to be 100% perfect but as long as you stick to the recipe, it'll give you outstanding results. Like all my other cakes, this cake was baked in the microwave because, I have no electric oven at home... unfortunately. If you want to use electric oven with right temperature settings and a bundle of parchment papers, go ahead and feel free to.
I divided this recipe into 2 halves or batches and baked them separately. The first batch of cake batter was baked on a square-shaped pan and the second batch was baked on a round pan and also... there's an easy hack to shape this cake into a heart. No need to cut with a paper template, no need to bake it on a heart-shaped pan. Just, turn the square into a diamond position, cut the round cake into semi-circles and attached those on the diamond-shaped cake and that is it... an easy heart cake! Just make sure that both the cakes are even and in proportion.
Normally, cream cheese frosting or cream cheese buttercream is used for this cake but here, I decided to use the 3-ingredient American buttercream instead. If you want to use cream cheese, I recommend a bar of Kraft's Philadelphia but this part is entirely optional.
I'm an amateur cook, not a professional and I bake to express creativity and for fun.

Separate the eggs if you're using them. Separate the yolks from the whites and keep them on 2 separate bowls. If you're using vegan eggs, follow the instructions on the packet and then, strain the aquafaba (chickpea liquid) from the can of chickpeas if these are available where you live. Mix all the wet ingredients first... egg yolks (or vegan eggs), sugar, vegetable oil (or butter/ sunflower margarine/Crisco vegetable shortening) until they all turn into this pale fluffy mixture.
- 2
Add the vanilla extract and red food color (liquid-based from Foster Clarks or a few drops of gel-based from Wilton) and continue to whisk until the batter's completely colored. Whisk the egg whites or aquafaba to soft peaks and fold it in the red batter using a rubber spatula.
- 3
At this point, add your dry ingredients bit by bit at a time. Sift your flour and baking powder into sections and fold these in with a rubber spatula. If you add the flour and baking powder all at once, you'll have a chance of forming lumps on your batter. Here's when mom stepped in and lent me her helping hand, love her and appreciate her for what she does for me. Love your mom and appreciate her for what she does for you; not only on Valentine's Day but... every single day.
- 4
Grease both your round and square pans with more butter, vegetable oil or margarine or Crisco. Pour the batters on the prepared pans and bake them for a good 5 minutes on high heat. Once they're done, keep them covered rather than open, this is a microwave cake afterall and if you leave it out in the open, it'll start to harden up. Keep them covered to lock all the moisture. In the mean time, start making your buttercream. If you're baking these in the electric oven, leave them to cool on a rack
- 5
This American buttercream is the easiest, quickest frosting you'll ever make if you're in a hurry or can't think of a better frosting recipe. To start, whip up the butter or sunflower margarine or Crisco vegetable shortening.
- 6
Then start sifting the icing sugar bit by bit into sections, not all together at once. If you add all the icing sugar at once without adding them bit by bit into sections, you'll have chances of getting sugary lumps on your frosting. Right after all the icing sugar's incorporated into the frosting, add your vanilla extract and give it a final whip.
- 7
Cut, layer, shape and position your cakes on the cake board. Place a dab of frosting on the center of your board and then, apply the frosting both inside and out using a palette knife.
- 8
This is exactly how your Valentine's red velvet heart cake is expected to look like before coating with buttercream.
- 9
And this is what it should look like after coating with the buttercream and topping it off with the marshmallow fondant ribbons and bow that I made yesterday. Cut a piece to show you guys. Impress your family, friends and loved ones with this cake if you're making it like the way I did. I promise you, it'll be... one of the most beautiful cakes you'll ever make. Can't wait to make this again next Valentine's! ❤🍰

Red velvet cake
I like baking since I was 12. I learned baking cakes from my mother basically and of course from the iconic Bengali cook book by Siddika Kabir - 'Ranna, Khaddo, Pushti'. And now internet is also my teacher.I am sharing recipe of a red velvet cake that I made recently for a dear friend of mine on her wedding anniversary as a gift. The cake is two layered. And both layers need to be baked separately. I have shared recipe of a single layer here. Nabila Nudrat -
🎤🎹 Keyboard Cake 🎵🎈
A birthday cake I made for the (fictional) vocalist/keyboardist of the virtual band, Gorillaz waaaay back in 2016. Thought about sharing the recipe here. It was his (2-D's) 'supposedly' birthday yesterday and this keyboard cake, which is chocolate both inside and out was one of the best birthday cakes I've ever made for him. He's my favorite Gorillaz character and I've had this heavy crush on him ever since I first saw him and his (fictional) bandmates on TV as a 9 year old girl 19 years back!!Due to ingredient shortages at home because of the lockdown caused by the ongoing covid-19 outbreak, fearing the virus, I couldn't run down to the store to get my usual cake supplies and bake him any new birthday cake this year. It's sad but sharing an old recipe won't hurt anybody, I suppose.I divided the recipe and baked this cake separately in 2 square tins since I didn't have any rectangular tin with me at the time. If you have a rectangular tin, bake the full recipe in one go! If you're in a hurry, you can bake this in the microwave for 04:00 minutes like the way I did. If you're using the usual electric oven, remember to pre-heat your oven first. Afsara Mehrin -

Mini Soufflé Pancakes 🥞❤
My very first attempt at making these and I think I nailed it 👌🏻 The recipe is super-easy and once you start making these for the first time, you'll want to make these over and over again 😋 an electric hand-held mixer with the attachments, a frying pan, a metal spatula and a stove (gas or electric) are all you need.To make this recipe cruelty-free, substitute all the non-vegetarian ingredients with it's plant-based counterparts 🌱#breakfastgoals 🥞🥃To make these pancakes even more special, my suggestion would be, to serve this with your favorite fruit(s) or fruit salad and a glass of any fruit juice made from your favorite fruit(s). Drizzle a bit of maple syrup or chocolate syrup on it, or sandwich it with some whipped cream and nutella... the choices are endless! This recipe is 100% customizable no matter how you decide to make it or what you choose to top it off with. If you need to make a bigger amount of this, simply double or triple the amount of ingredients. Afsara Mehrin -
🍮 Cream Caramel Pudding/Flan
Very easy to make only if it's made correctly ❤Be super-careful if you're making the hot caramel topping for this pudding or flan!! Don't get distracted, any carelessness can lead to serious injuries ⚠️ Use a silver wok to make the hot caramel to prevent yourselves from any additional injuries. Take further care of yourselves while pouring this hot caramel on to the mould. Handle both the wok and the hot mould with oven-mittens before chilling in the fridge. All you need are a gas/electric stove, an electric hand-held mixer, a metal mould, a cooling rack, a giant pot to steam this dessert, some aluminum foil to cover the dessert while it's steaming, a lid to cover the pot and a heavy brick to hold it all in place. It shouldn't take that long to steam. Just, take a fork/toothpick/skewer and poke it in the center. If it comes clean, then you'll know it's ready! 😋I'm often used to making this dessert with store-bought vanilla ice cream as a cheats way of bringing it to life but this time, I decided to use sweetened condensed milk instead since... we haven't had any ice cream in the fridge due to the lockdown caused by this virus pandemic 😷Chill this sweet concoction in the fridge. Desserts like these taste better when they're cold ❄ Afsara Mehrin -

Shooters Sandwich. Pressed Steak and Mushroom Sandwich with 8 layers. Ultimate Steak Sandwich
The concept of this sandwich is to put cooked steak and mushrooms inside a hollowed out loaf of bread then press it down with weights. Weights are used to press down on the sandwich, which causes all the juice from meat and other toppings to soak into the bread. Shooter’s sandwich originated in England during the Edwardian era. It was created so that hunters could easily carry lunch with them, hence I guess the name Shooter’s sandwich. My version has 8 layers of different type of toppings. I guess I can call it evolution of food 😊. Kiron Ahsan -
